This advertisement is looking for men to join the nurse work force. This advertisement is countering the stereotype that nurses are women. The picture shows a group of diverse men that are nurses.
Each man is showing their own personality through what they are wearing and even props. We can see a man holding a guitar, standing with golf clubs, next to a surfboard and holding rock climbing gear. These activities are usually associated with males. This shows that you can be a typical man and have a job as a nurse. The verbiage, “Are you man enough to be a nurse?” is also fighting the stereotype. They are saying that being a nurse is a manly job if you can handle it. The words on the bottom also puts nursing in a positive light. Stating that the job will challenge your intelligence, courage and skill is used to entice men.
